The design is similar to the tone generator portion of the [HAL ST-6000|https://bama.edebris.com/manuals/hal/ST-6000/] radioteletype FSK modem. In both cases, the frequency shift keying is accomplished by selecting between two crystal oscillators. The selected oscillator frequency is then divided as necessary, then drives a counter/decoder with a resistor network on the outputs. The counter/resistor combination forms a digital to analog converter with a sine shaped output.
